I just read an article on the Daily Kos where the author, "One Pissed Off Liberal", asserts that we are in a downward slide towards fascism. In summary, these signs are apparent:
The US has fallen to a fascist coup.
The American military/political establishment has long been guilty of the most heinous crimes imaginable.
The war in Iraq was always about oil and empire and was planned far in advance of 9/11/2001.
The elections of 2000 and 2004 were stolen.
The so-called ‘War on Terrorism’ is bogus.
Failure to impeach will ensure the end of our democracy.
The Democrats have sold us out.
Bush and his cronies and everyone who supports them or enables them are all war criminals and traitors.
We are never leaving Iraq.
We are NOT a democracy.
We are not free.
The scary part is that I agree with each and every point, and have felt this way for over half a decade now. I think about this every day, it weighs heavy on my heart. When all options look dismal and the desired outcome seems difficult if not impossible to achieve, it is hard to decide what to do. Hard to take action. Such is the case with choosing the next presidential candidate. Which of the running will deliver us from the above list? It won't come down to party lines. "Elect a Democrat" won't save us. Especially when none of the Dems, except for Kucinich, are even in favor of actively removing the existing powers that got us here. No, none of the candidates except Ron Paul consistently deliver a message that addresses the above list of steps towards fascism. That is why I am donating money to the Ron Paul campaign. That is why I called my county clerk in Napoleon Michigan to make sure I would be able to vote in the Michigan primary elections, That is why I will be voting for Ron Paul on January 15.
