When I was 14 I went to Hong Kong on a band tour. While there I bought myself a cassette walkman - the first I ever owned - and a couple of tapes. This was one of them. I didn’t know it, and “Simon and Garfunkel” were among the few artists I recognized. When I listened to it for the first time that night, half way across the world from home, an overwhelming sense of homesickness washed over me. It was as if I knew the music, even though I really wasn’t familiar with it[1]. I couldn’t explain it. Only some time later did I spot some S&G records amongst my Dad’s collection. Mom explained that they had listened to them a lot in my pre-natal and infant years. Wow! I remembered them from when I was a baby, and that’s why I got so homesick listening to them!

I wasn’t raised on the moon but the music I was exposed to was limited to my Dad’s record collection. That’s why I like Beethoven so much!
